Kentville Celebrates 125 Years!
2011 marked the year of Kentville’s 125th Birthday. The Town celebrated all year long with a variety of signature events and community projects Check out our collection of photos from the past year of celebration.

Kentville's History:
- Kentville was incorporated as a Town in on December 7th 1886, marking 125 years as a Town in 2011
- Kentville was named the #1 Town in Nova Scotia by author Richard Rogers in his book Town of Nova Scotia, published in 2006
- Kentville was honoured by Welcome Wagon as best Atlantic Canadian community (population under 10,000) for 2007
- Historical roots of the Town of Kentville include Mi’kmaq First Nations, Acadian, New England Planter, Loyalist & African Nova Scotian cultural heritage
- The McKay Motor Car Company of Kentville produced one of Nova Scotia’s first production automobiles
- Kentville’s Kings County Academy (KCA) opened in 1929. The primary to grade 8 school will have a new building at a new location in 2011
- Kentville hosted Canada’s first summer hockey school in 1957
- The first Apple Blossom Festival was held in 1933 in Kentville and continues to be a flagship attraction of the Town of Kentville
